If you re like me i even forget what the basic oil drain plug and filter housing torque specs are.
E46 m3 strut bar torque.
If you have an oem strut bar replace the bracket and retaining nuts on the top of the strut tower.
If you do not have an oem strut bar replace the 3 nuts at the top of the strut tower.
1 2 remove 4 torx screws holding cabin filter housing remove filter.
Don t over tighten another bolt ever again.
Remove cabin filter and strut bar.
Remove the nuts from the driver s side strut tower.
18 mm flange 18 lb ft.
Torque to 18 ft lbs.
E36 3 series 1992 1999 e36 m3 1995 1999 e46 3 series 1999 2005 e46 m3 2001 2006 e90.
This strut brace can be used on all 2002 2006 bmw e46 m3 as well as all 2002 2005 e46 4 door sedan wagon and all 2002 2006 e46 2 door coupe convertible.
Since the strut tower nuts that come with the brace have a 18 mm flange i will be using 18 lb ft on these too.

Since this is a relatively high torque you may need to use a piece of pipe to hold the hex key while tightening.

Reinstall the strut back into the vehicle.
We will be installing the e46 m3 strut brace.
Use a torque wrench and 6mm hex key wrench to tighten the strut lock nut to 64 nm 47 ft lb.
Torque these to 18 ft lbs.

Make sure the pin on the strut mount lines up with the hole in the strut tower.
